About This Car
This 2006 Mercedes-Benz SL500 remained in Texas through the seller’s acquisition in 2023, and the car was optioned with the AMG Sport Package. It is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 linked to a seven-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Diamond Silver Metallic over Stone leather. Features include 18″ AMG split-spoke alloy wheels, a power-folding hardtop, bi-xenon headlights, Parktronic, Keyless Go, heated seats, a Bose sound system, and a PLZ head unit with Apple CarPlay. This R230 has 157k miles and is now offered at no reserve with service records and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Diamond Silver Metallic (762) and features a power-folding convertible hardtop, bi-xenon headlights, fog lights, dual exhaust outlets, and fender air vents. The car is equipped with the AMG Sport Package, which added a revised front air dam, side skirts, and rear apron. The Carfax report lists damage to the front in January 2015. Areas of flawed window tint can be seen in the photo gallery.
The 18″ AMG split-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with mixed Continental ExtremeContact tires. The car features Active Body Control (ABC) suspension as well as an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Automatic Slip Control (ASR). The seller reports the left front suspension sags after the car is parked for a few days, but states that this can be corrected by utilizing the “Raise Car” suspension function, as demonstrated in a video shown below.
The heated and power-adjustable seats are upholstered in Stone leather, and interior features include dual-zone automatic climate control, Parktronic, cruise control, Keyless Go, and a Bose sound system. A PLZ head unit with Apple CarPlay has been installed, and the removed head unit will accompany the car.
The wood- and leather-trimmed steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 157k miles, approximately 6k of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.0-liter M113 V8 was factory rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission. The oil was changed and the drive belt, tensioner, and idler pulley were replaced in April 2024. An invoice from that time notes cracked flex discs.
