About This Car
This 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Guards Red over gray partial leather. It rolls on 16″ phone dial alloy wheels and is further equipped with an aftermarket exhaust system, a rear spoiler, fog lights, air conditioning, cruise control, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, and power windows and locks. The car was previously offered on BaT in December 2021 and was acquired by its current owner in April 2023. Work since then included changing the oil, replacing the oil pressure sending unit, and repairing the air conditioning system. This 944 Turbo is now offered on dealer consignment with manufacturer’s literature, an indoor car cover, a Porsche tire mobility kit, partial service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title.
The car is finished in Guards Red (LM3A), and the quarter panels were repainted under previous ownership. Details include pop-up headlights, fog lights, and a rear spoiler. The power tilt function for the sunroof does not work.
SIlver-finished 16″ phone dial wheels are mounted with 225/50 front and 245/50 rear BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2 tires. The braking system features four-piston calipers matched with ventilated discs at each corner.
The front bucket seats and split-folding rear seats are upholstered in Grey partial leather. Amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, dual front airbags, and power windows and locks. The air conditioning system was converted to utilize R134a refrigerant under previous ownership, and an A/C system relay connection was repaired in June 2022.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,400-rpm redline, and gauges for coolant temperature, turbo boost pressure, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 32k miles, approximately 500 of which have been added under current ownership. The instrument cluster was repaired in 2018, the cluster backlighting was replaced in 2020, and total mileage is unknown.
The turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four was factory rated at 217 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. The water pump and timing belt were replaced in 2018, the oil pressure sending unit was replaced in 2022, and the oil was changed in November 2024.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted five-speed manual transaxle. A transaxle cooler was optioned from the factory, and the exhaust system has been modified with a catalytic converter bypass pipe and a polished rear section. The clutch slave and master cylinders were replaced in 2021.
