About This Car
This 1986 Mercedes-Benz 300SL is a European-market example that was imported to the US from Venezuela in April 1986, and it was registered with two owners before it was acquired by the current owner in 2014. Finished in Black Pearl Metallic over Palomino leather, the car is powered by a replacement 3.0-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. It has European-specification headlights and bumpers as well as 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels, a removable hardtop, a replacement blue soft top, rear seats, power windows, automatic climate control, and an Alpine cassette stereo linked with a trunk-mounted CD changer. This R107 is now offered at no reserve on dealer consignment with service records, a car cover, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Washington title.
The car is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) and features a replacement blue convertible soft top that was fitted in January 2025. Additional details consist of a body-color removable hardtop, fog lights, dual side mirrors, a power antenna, Euro-spec headlights and chrome bumpers, and Mercedes-Benz Club of America grille badges. Paint chips are visible on the front end, there are indents in the trunk lid, and close-up photos of paint imperfections are viewable in the gallery below.
The 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels are mounted with 205/65 Michelin X Tour A/S T+H tires that were installed in 2022. The steering stabilizer and center link were recently replaced, and suspension work in 2022 included fitting new shock absorbers, rear anti-sway bar links, and control arm bushings. An alignment was performed in preparation for the sale.
The heated bucket seats are trimmed in faded Palomino leather upholstery and are complemented by a color-coordinated lower dashboard, center console, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include seat headrests, rear seats, power windows, automatic climate control, and an Alpine cassette stereo linked with a trunk-mounted Alpine CD changer and aftermarket rear speakers. There is a split in the dashboard next to the right defrost vent, and there are cracks in the finish on the wood center console trim.
A 160-mph speedometer was installed when the car was federalized in 1986, and a label on the left door jamb indicates a reading of 1,253 kilometers on the original odometer. The recently repaired six-digit odometer shows 127k miles, and the seller notes that it was inoperative for several years under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 3.0-liter inline-six was installed in March 1998 at approximately 95k miles. The engine mounts were replaced and the air conditioning system was serviced in 2022. The selling dealer tells us the distributor cap and rotor were replaced in preparation for the sale. Oil leaks are noted from the engine and transmission.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The transmission mount, driveshaft flex disc, and subframe mounts were replaced in 2022. A factory center resonator and replacement rear exhaust components have been installed.
Service records and a Silver Star Certificate from the Mercedes-Benz Club of America are included in the sale along with a car cover and spare parts.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage.
