About This Car
This 1984 Porsche 911 Turbo is a European-market example that was ordered new by the founder of Hawaiian Tropic and is one of 34 examples fitted with slantnose bodywork as part of Porscheâs Sonderwunsch (Special Wishes) program for the model year. It remained with its initial owner until 2013 when it was acquired by the current owner and became the subject of a multi-year refurbishment between 2014 and 2017 reportedly performed by Kennedy Motorsports in Holly Hill, Florida. Finished in paint-to-sample Brilliant Red Metallic over black leather upholstery, the car is powered by a turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six mated to a four-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. Equipment consists of a sunroof, a tea tray rear spoiler, front sport seats, power windows, a cigarette lighter, a Blaupunkt Köln cassette stereo, 16″ Fuchs wheels, and Bilstein B6 Sport dampers. This 911 Turbo flachbau shows 48k miles and is now offered on dealer consignment in Washington state with manufacturer’s literature, a jack, a tool roll, a Porsche Classic Technical Certificate, correspondence from the founder of Hawaiian Tropic, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.
The car is finished in paint-to-sample Brilliant Red Metallic and is equipped with factory flachbau bodywork fitted by Porscheâs Sonderwunsch department, which includes pop-up headlights, smooth front fenders, side strakes, and extended side sills. Additional equipment includes a sunroof, headlight washers, fog lights, fender markers, European-specification taillight lenses, a tea tray rear spoiler, and a rear window wiper.
The polished 16â³ Fuchs wheels feature back accents and are mounted with Michelin Pilot SX tires measuring 205/55 up front and 245/45 out back. The car rides on Bilstein B6 Sport dampers, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with black Porsche-branded calipers over drilled rotors at all four corners.
The front sport seats are trimmed in black leather upholstery that extends to the dashboard, door panels, and folding rear seats. Color-coordinated carpeting lines the footwells, and additional interior elements include air conditioning, power windows, a cigarette lighter, and a Blaupunkt Köln cassette stereo.
The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer flanked by a 170-mph speedometer and readouts for oil pressure, oil temperature, oil level, fuel level, and boost pressure. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 48k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added under current ownership.
The turbocharged 3.3-liter M930/66 flat-six features a single turbocharger with a top-mount air-to-air intercooler. Service in April 2024 included an oil change and replacement of the fuel pumps, relays, and filter.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The transaxle fluid was flushed in April 2024.
The Porsche Classic Technical Certificate provides a production date of March 1984 and it shows factory colors and options, including paint-to-sample Brilliant Red Metallic and a Slant Nose Conversion.
The Carfax report is free of accidents and other reported damage from an initial entry in June 2000.
