About This Car
This 1978 Porsche 911SC is a German-market example that received Safari-style modifications in 2018-19 under prior ownership. Lifted suspension was fitted along with aluminum skid plates, front and rear bumper guards, auxiliary lights, Recaro seats, PRP harnesses, a multi-point roll bar, and a Sparco steering wheel. Power comes from a 3.0-liter flat-six equipped with 964-grind cams, and the 915 transaxle was fitted with with shorter 2nd-4th gears and a Wavetrac limited-slip differential. The car was listed on BaT in March 2019 and purchased by its current owner the following year. Subsequent work included a repaint in satin silver and applying black and white graphics in addition to refinishing the 16″ Fuchs wheels and resealing the engine and exterior. Elephant Racing Von Shocks coilovers, Griffiths air conditioning, and an SSI exhaust system have been fitted, and the alternator, fuel-level sender, tires, and more were replaced. StanceWorks showcased the vehicle, and it was also driven on Hooniverse in November 2018. Awarded âBest Carâ at the 2018 Momo Road to Rennsport Reunion VI rally, this modified 911SC coupe is now offered on dealer consignment in Oregon with a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, service records, refurbishment photos, and a clean Colorado title.
Factory-finished in Guards Red, the non-sunroof car underwent a color change to satin silver in 2021 and received black and white quarter-panel graphics. The exterior rubber items and seals were replaced at that time, and the whale-tail rear spoiler’s seal was replaced in preparation for the sale. Features include yellow-lens LED headlights, amber-lens fog and front-auxiliary lights, a Porsche-script windshield header, a left-side mirror, and custom bumper guards.
Refinished 16″ Fuchs wheels are wrapped in 215/65 Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted four-wheel discs, and Elephant Racing Von Shocks Level 2 coilovers were installed in August 2023. Adjustable Tarett Engineering sway bars are in place, as is a Rennline front strut-tower brace.
Recaro SR3 seats are upholstered in black leatherette with patterned-weave red cloth inserts, and the door panels are trimmed to match. The rear seats have been replaced by a welded-in multi-point roll bar, to which PRP four-point harnesses are secured. A Griffiths air-conditioning system was installed in 2021, and additional appointments include a Blaupunkt Bremen digital-media receiver, power windows, Rennline floorboards, and a Wevo shifter topped with a wood knob. The heater system was reconnected in March 2021, and work in January 2025 included re-dying the rear-deck carpet, repairing the window-switch wiring, and touching up the trunk paint.
The Sparco R 215 steering wheel is secured via a Rothsport Racing quick-release hub, and it frames a central tachometer, a 250-km/h speedometer, a clock, and gauges for oil level, oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 147 kilometers (~92k miles).
The 3.0-liter flat-six has been modified with billet 964-grind camshafts and Elephant Racing finned oil lines. The valve-cover gaskets and the crankshaft and main-shaft seals were replaced in March 2021 along with the alternator and fuel-level sender. A service record with cylinder-compression measurements taken in January 2025 can be viewed in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle fitted with Guard Transmission shorter-ratio 2nd-4th gears and a Wavetrac limited-slip differential. The car was undercoated in 2021, aluminum skid plates line the underside, and an SSI exhaust system has been installed.
