About This Car
This 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle sedan was refurbished under prior ownership circa 2019 and acquired by the current owner in 2021. It is powered by a 2,110cc air-cooled flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, and it is finished in teal and white over black vinyl upholstery. Additional details include polished 15″ wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, EMPI HPMX carburetors, chrome engine tin, earlier-model rear body panels, front window rain guards, Cal Look window rubber, later-model front bucket seats, EMPI Classic Wood steering wheel, and a Pioneer CD stereo. This 1303 Super Beetle is now offered in California on behalf of the current owner with a window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Ohio title.
The body is fitted with a 1971-72-style decklid, rear fenders, and taillights and is finished in teal and white. Exterior details include body-color bumpers, front window rain guards, and Cal Look window rubber. Images detailing the condition of the exterior are presented in the gallery below.
The polished 15″ Chevrolet Rally-style wheels are mounted with 195/65 Pirelli P4 tires. Adjustable coil-over shocks have been installed in the rear, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes.
Inside, a pair of bucket seats sourced from a 1974-76 model rimmed in black vinyl upholstery have been installed and are joined by a color-coordinated rear bench seat, door panels, and carpeting. A plastic cap has been installed atop the dashboard, and additional interior elements include a lockable glove compartment, a two-speed fresh air blower fan, a cigarette lighter, and a Pioneer CD stereo as well as polished guards for the lower A-pillar, lower front door edges, and door sills.
The EMPI Classic Wood steering wheel frames a 100-mph VDO speedometer with an inset fuel-level gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 87k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2,110cc air-cooled flat-four utilizes an aftermarket engine case fitted with a remote spin-on oil filter adapter, dual EMPI HPMX carburetors, a 009-style distributor, a degree pulley, and chrome engine tin.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. A two-tip Monza-style exhaust system with J-tubes has been installed.
The window sticker shows initial delivery to Wood Motors, Inc. of Detroit, Michigan, options, and an importer’s suggested retail price of $2,413.
