About This Car
This 1967 Volkswagen Beetle convertible underwent a multi-year refurbishment under previous ownership between 2012 and 2017. It is powered by a 1,914cc air-cooled flat-four that utilizes a full-flow oiling system and is fitted with 94mm pistons and cylinders, an Engle W-110 camshaft, dual Weber 44 IDF carburetors, MSD ignition, and a Ceramic-coated 1-5/8â A-1 Sidewinder exhaust system and heater boxes. The body has been refinished in Tornado Red and features HID headlights, earlier-style beltline trim, and European-specification bumpers and taillight lenses, while the interior is trimmed in pleated black vinyl and incorporates an Alpine head unit, VDO instrumentation, and a copper Hurst shifter. Additional details include a black canvas Stafast convertible soft top, 15″ Porsche Fuchs wheels, front disc brakes, an independent rear suspension conversion, reindexed rear torsion arms, a narrowed adjustable axle beam, dropped spindles, a reinforced intermediate mount, a truss bar, and a rear sway bar. Acquired by the current owner in 2024, this ’67 convertible is now offered on their behalf with a series of seller-supplied documents describing the refurbishment and a clean California title.
The floor pan was reportedly stripped and coated with POR-15 rust inhibitor and black ârock guardâ paint, while the body received paint protection film on the hood and fenders after being repainted Tornado Red as part of the refurbishment. Additional work performed included powder-coating the top frame and fitting a replacement black Stayfast soft top and European-specification blade bumpers with overriders.
HID headlights have been installed along with gas-charged hood struts, chrome jackhole covers, earlier-style beltline trim, and European-specification Hella taillight lenses.
The staggered-width 15″ Porsche Fuchs wheels wear hand-painted Porsche-crest center caps and are mounted with Riken Raptor tires measuring 185/65 up front and 195/65 out back. An independent rear suspension conversion has been performed, the rear torsion arms have been reindexed, and a CB Performance 2″ narrowed adjustable front axle beam has been fitted along with dropped spindles, a Bugpack truss bar, KYB dampers, and a rear sway bar. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes with a 5×130 bolt pattern and a dual-circuit master cylinder.
The front bucket seats, rear bench, and door panels are trimmed in pleated black vinyl upholstery. The car has been fitted with a custom wiring harness and a lock has been installed in the hood release, while additional interior elements include powder-coated seat frames, Coco mats, a copper Hurst trigger shifter, an Alpine head unit, and a 12-volt electric heater mounted beneath the rear seat.
The three-spoke Grant GT steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The replacement five-digit mechanical odometer shows 13k miles, and true chassis mileage is unknown.
The replacement air-cooled flat-four has been modified to displace 1,914cc utilizing an (AH) AS41 dual-relief magnesium engine case machined for 94mm pistons and cylinders. The engine has been fitted with an Engle W-110 camshaft, dual Weber 44 IDF carburetors, and MSD ignition in addition to the following:
- A Schadek 30mm oil pump
- Gene Berg oil pump cover
- Spin-on oil filter adapter
- Remote oil cooler with electric fan
- Ceramic-coated heater boxes,
- Ceramic-coated 1-5/8â A-1 Sidewinder exhaust system
- Degree pulley
- Extended capacity oil sump
- Chromoly pushrods

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle that has been modified with a âsuper diffâ differential with four spider gears in addition to heavy-duty aluminum side covers, welded 3rd and 4th gears, steel shift forks, a reinforced intermediate mount, a 200mm lightweight flywheel, and a 1700-lb Kennedy clutch.
