About This Car
This 1949 Willys-Overland Jeepster was refinished in yellow over white vinyl and fitted with a replacement 148ci Lightning inline-six before the seller’s acquisition in 2019. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes an electric fuel pump, a black convertible top and side curtains, 15â³ steel wheels with polished hubcaps, a bright T-shaped grille bar, fender steps, a heater, and a split front bench seat. This Jeepster is now offered with an owner’s manual, service records, and a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The truck was refinished in yellow with black upper trim under previous ownership and features a black convertible top, a bright T-shaped grille bar, a split front windshield, and side curtains with plastic windows as well as fender steps and dual taillights. Close-up photos of the paintwork and trim are presented in the gallery.
The 15â³ steel wheels feature polished hubcaps and are mounted with Broadway whitewall tires. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners, and a spare tire is mounted at the rear. The truck was factory equipped with an independent front suspension as well as semi-elliptic rubber-mounted transverse front and conventional rear leaf springs.
The cabin features a split front bench seat and a folding rear bench upholstered in white vinyl. Amenities include a heater, a body-color metal dashboard, a black lockable glove compartment door, and sun visors.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a centrally mounted instrument panel housing gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 8k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer cable was replaced in May 2019, and the speedometer and radio are inoperative. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 148ci Lightning inline-six was rated at 72 horsepower when new and installed under previous ownership. The water pump was replaced in 2019, and the spark plugs, ignition condenser and points, and distributor cap and rotor were replaced in 2020 along with the installation of an electric fuel pump.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Fluid leaks are noted, and additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.
The South Carolina title lists the make as Jeep.
