The Perfect Spec prides itself on the lowest fees in the industry! We have a simple structure for all bidders big and small.Â
Minimum $250 bidder fee with a maximum of 4.5% with a maximum of $5,000.Â
What Happens If The Vehicle Doesn't Reach Reserve?
If the situation arrises as to the vehicle not reaching the sellers reserve price, if one exists, The Perfect Spec will act as an intermediary between the highest bidder and the seller to try and reach an agreed price. Should that price agreement occur, TPC will collect the appropriate bidder fee and connect the Buyer and Seller to complete the transaction.Â
Can I Cancel My Bid?
Unfortunately, No. Your bid is a commitment to purchase. Please only place a bid if you wish to complete the purchase. Bidder fees are non-refundable. Please view our Terms and Conditions for more details.
Can I Inspect A Car?
We encourage all potential bidders to inspect a car prior to placing a bid. Bids are not contingent upon post-auction inspections. If you would like to inspect a car or have it inspected, you can use the Contact Seller button on the listing to make contact with the seller and arrange an inspection.
Lemon Squad is a popular national company that offers these inspections at a reasonable cost. Make sure to plan ahead, as inspections are not contingent after the auction ends.Â
How Do I Know If The Car Has A Reserve?
Most listings will typically have a Reserve price that must be met before the car will sell. These amounts are confidential and will not be disclosed.Â
If however a seller wishes to offer their vehicle as a No Reserve listing, we will prominently display in the title “No Reserve” to indicate as such.Â
A reserve is the minimum price that a vehicle will sell for. We work with sellers to set reasonable reserves, and avoid vehicles with reserves that are not realistic.
What Happens If I Win An Auction?
If the reserve price is reached at auction’s end, a 4% buyer’s fee  (max and min fees apply) will be automatically charged to the credit card on file. In case of payment processing issues, such as insufficient funds, you’ll be notified via email with instructions for completing the payment. Upon successful payment, both the buyer and seller will receive emails outlining the subsequent steps.
Will A Hold Be Applied To My Credit Card If I Bid?
Yes. The minimum to maximum percentage will be placed as a hold on your card for the duration of the active listing. If you win the auction and the reserve is met, we will charge a remaining variance amount. Should you lose the auction, the amount will be released from hold status. Please allow 3-5 business days for your credit card issuer to post these adjustments.Â
How Do I Get Notifications For Listing Updates
Each live auction listing has a heart shaped icon that you can click in the upper corner. Once clicked, you are automatically notified of bids and activity on that listing. If you want to follow specific makes or models, you can select the “Heart” icon and receive notifications of all future listings of that car as well.Â
How Do I Complete A Transaction With A Lien?
When bidding on a car with an existing lien, the transaction typically involves direct communication with the seller’s bank. As the winning bidder, you’ll work with the lender to settle the lien. The lender will provide the payoff amount and necessary paperwork. Payment may involve paying the bank directly or splitting the payment between the lien amount and the remaining balance. To ensure a smooth process, contact the seller beforehand via the “contact seller” button to clarify their lien resolution plan.Â
In addition, you can use an escrow service such as KeySavvy to help with the title and payoff process. It’s super affordable and can simply an otherwise sometimes confusing process.Â
